May the force be with you

So here we are, into the tenth month of the year already. For some reason that’s got me thinking about other number tens. There’s the obvious one on a certain street in London, but with Brexit looming that’s dodgy territory. So my thoughts alighted instead on Aphorism no.10 in Hahnemann’s Organon of Medicine.

Samuel Hahnemann brought the ancient homeopathic principles known since Ancient Greek times up to date in the 1790s, and his work has influenced and furthered the cause of homeopathy through to modern times.  His Organon of Medicine is something of a homeopathic bible.  Aphorism 10 refers to the one of the fundamentals underpinning homeopathy; the nature of the ‘vital force’:

“The material organism, without the vital force, is capable of no sensation, no function, no self-preservation; it derives all sensation and performs all the functions of life solely by means of the immaterial being (the vital principle) which animates the material organism in health and in disease.”

Thus the vital force is the energy which animates our material form, brings us to life, gives us vitality. It is the vital energy of life. Without it we are dead; we decay. Some think of it as the soul or the spirit. Other cultures know it as ki or qi, chi, or the life force.

As Hahnemann reminds us, it animates us in sickness and in health. So for true restoration of health we must touch the vital force, on the energy plane.

Vital forceHomeopathic remedies are designed to resonate on that level. Each encapsulates the energy of the substance it’s derived from, and packs a powerful punch when your homeopath matches it correctly to you.

As they say, may the force be with you…

Warm wishes,

Lucy
